Hello all Internet marketers and welcome to my blog,
I am Ian and am currently living in Kingston upon Thames, Greater London, England.
Graduated from Coventry University in 1992 with a second class honours degree in electrical and electronic engineering. Believed when I was young, the more qualifications you possess, the more money you earn. Found out that was far from the case, and graduated to the dole and was suggested to bring my expectations lower and take any job that comes along or go back to University.
Applied for a Postgraduate course at Liverpool University in which I gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Technology in 1994. Still no further on with my job hunting, realising then that qualifications were only a tiny part of getting a ‘good’ job and found that I was ‘overqualified’. I was doing remedial type work and door to door selling until 1996 with not even enough money to fully support myself without help from my parents.
Had my first proper graduate job in October 1996, and made just over broke until my position was made redundant in 1999. Currently work for Surrey County Council, again earning just over broke with little resemblance to my degree discipline and very disillusioned.
However during the last few years, have attended many seminars covering Internet marketing, stock market and investments and NLP. Really enjoyed these seminars (although I was exhausted) and got to hear from people like Christopher Howard, Tony Robbins and Topher Morrison on the NLP side of things and got to learn about what it takes to be successful, none mentioned qualifications as a prerequisite to success, but was down to ones vision for the future and the values and beliefs that a person holds that make a person successful. On the Internet marketing side, I heard from Derek Gehl, Ewen Chia, Mark Anastasi and Armand Morin to name a few. Got very good tips of how to get a good start in Internet marketing. As good as the seminars were there were lots of people and suffered from information overload and reality soon dawned, and was unsure of how to apply the information given at the seminars.
I realised that I needed a more personal approach. I came across the Starting with Marketing coaching program with Dean Holland, whom is now my mentor. The first thing that Dean mentioned was to get a blog set up on the domain name chosen, and this is what Dean was taught by his mentor, Alex Jeffreys.
Best regards,
Believe and Achieve in 2009.
